"Zero" Polish film
The 13th Annual European Union Film festival in Chicago screens the Polishfilm Zero 2009, directed by Pawel Borowski.
This marvelously inventive thriller scrambles its way through a densely packed twenty-four hours in an unnamed European metropolis, where the lives of more than forty characters fatefully intersect. A CEO, a hospital worker, a peddler, a gigolo, a duplicitous wife, a short-tempered taxi driver, and scores of others are introduced in absorbing mini-dramas; then, like relay runners, each hands the narrative on to the next, until one sprawling tale encompassing adultery, espionage, murder, child pornography, extortion, and robbery takes shape.
