The 28th African Festival of the Arts takes place September 1-4, 2017 on Chicago’s South Side. This year’s main stage highlight include Wyclef Jean, a hip-hop award-winning musician who will perform on Sunday, September 3, 2017.
The festival will feature different musical themes and line-ups that reflect the arts and culture of the African Diaspora. Below are the highlights.
Friday, September 1 – Millennial Night
Focused on a youthful audience the music line-up includes: WizKid, Taylor Bennett, Kid Wond3r, Tha Pope and more local Chicago musicians.
Saturday, September 2- Reggae Block Party
Top Chicago reggae dj and performers will be on the main stage throughout Saturday.
Sunday, September 3 – Inspirational Night
Wyclef Jean will lead the music on the mainstage along with local musicians Obisoulstar, Ugochi, DJ TopDonn and more.
Monday, September 4 – Soul Fest
Soul music artists Heatwave, Gros Ngolie Pokossi, and Mamadou fantasic Band will perform on Labor Day.

African Festival of the Arts Chicago also feature a Drum & Afro-folk Village, Children and Family, African Heritage, African Spirituality, Wellness (Health) Village, Books and Authors, Fine Art, Film and Video, Food Court, Seniors and Quilting, and the African Marketplace.
