The annual Christkindl Market transforms Daley Plaza into a quaint German village lined with wooden cottages in the heart of Chicago downtown Loop.
Strolling through the Christkindl German Holiday market is will give you a walk through traditional German village. You will be greeted by the delicious smells of cooking food.
There is a constant waft of sweet, scent of warm toasted nuts, pretzels, strudels fruit filled pastries, hot cider, and lots of German sausages.
Inside each wooden cottage, you will find lots of treats. Visitors can try purchase souvenirs and ornaments handmade in Germany and Austria.
Get one of the ceramic mugs in the shape of a boot for your hot cider. The hot cider liquor will warm you up on any winter day.
Be sure to take cash with you as many of the vendors are cash only.
The market is open now until Christmas Eve December 24. Christkindl Market is free and open to the public Sunday to Thursday from 11am-8pm and Friday and Saturday from 11am-9pm.
